The Hoover Dam is operated by the US 
Bureau of Reclamation, but it helps to form the Lake Mead NRA. We stopped at the Dam overlook while on a bus tour to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. We’d already taken the guided tour of the Glen Canyon Dam a few years earlier, so it was enough for us to snap a few photos, stretch our legs and move on the next stop.
I stopped by there on my big drive out to Los Angeles in 2009. I just couldn’t believe how massive it is! Great photos, thanks for sharing.
Alas, I only got to see this one from the overlook, so no sense of scale, other than how scary low the water level is. One of these days, I’ll put up a Glen Canyon Dam post…we toured that one and actually walked on top of it (and in it)

Thanks for visiting! This was little more than a drive by and a rest stop on a bus tour and I’m sure there are many more ways to experience Lake Mead NRA. We will have to go back for all the non-dam stuff 🙂
