After our tubing expedition with Kauai Backcountry Adventures, we began our tour of Kauai’s North shore. Our first stop was the ʻŌpaekaʻa Falls overlook. This waterfall is visible from the highway…no need to hike.

ʻŌpaekaʻa is Hawaiian for ‘rolling shrimp.’ The falls are 151 feet high and flow year round into the Wailua River in Wailua River State Park. We could see birds flying near the cascading water.

  1. So beautiful, Ms. T.! Hawaii is one of the states I haven’t been yet. I’m planning to make a stop there, when we fly to Australia. Hopefully this will happen in 2024. Yes, this is a long shot. But it gives me time to save enough $$$ for this trip. And in the meantime, I can do some smaller thrips throughout the US.

      1. We we are definitely working on that dream. I hear ya. The US provides us with so many sights. It can’t be done in one life time. 😉

I am planning a trip to Hawaii in 2021 for my wife and I’s 25th anniversary. You seem so well versed on the islands, I would welcome any help and recommendations via e-mail for visiting both National Parks there, beaches, which island to start, etc. Thanks..enjoy your posts.

    1. Absolutely! There is a ‘contact’ button on my page. Initiate that and we will be connected by email without either of us publicly posting our address 😜. Let me know what your initial plans are and I’ll share any info I have. Congratulations on your silver anniversary
