I recently attended a virtual meeting with the NPCA. You can see the Park Talk by clicking on this link. It is an informative half-hour program, providing information on the impact on the parks by recent executive orders. NPCA leadership outlines ways in which we can all help,
The National Park Service has lost close to 2000 jobs in the past few weeks. One thousand employees were abruptly terminated on Valentine’s Day. An estimated additional 700 have tendered their resignations under the “Fork in the Road” edict. Prior to 2025, the parks were already understaffed and underfunded as visitation numbers continue to increase.
Many of the stories I’ve shared with you on this blog would not be possible without our wonderful interpretive Park Rangers. They make all the difference in visitor experience and in insuring these place remain protected so that one day our children’s children can also enjoy them.
The Park Talk speakers give guidance on locating and contacting your congressional representatives and making your voice heard. They also provide a link to their page where you can leave your park story or just read the inspirational stories of others. Please check it out and help if you can.
