Welcome back to National Parks and other public lands with T!
I noticed Hamilton House on the way to visit the Presby Iris Garden. During the spring of Covid, I visited local parks early in the morning in order to be in front of my computer for work by 9 AM. After I finished photographing flowers at Presby, I had time to stop and peer in the windows of the historic home before getting on the Parkway.
The museum was closed for most of 2020, but from the internet I got the basic history. Harry Hamilton, whose family had lived in the house for over a century, left the home to the town of Clifton in 1970. The town moved it to its present location in Surgent Park three years later.
The farmhouse was originally built by Dutch settlers in the 18th century and passed through various owners. The house now operates as a living history museum, with regularly scheduled tours during normal times.
