In 2019, we had the pleasure to visit Iolani Palace, the only royal palace on US soil. With most of the country under ‘Stay-at-home’ orders, Iolani Palace is currently closed to the public. The Friends of Iolani have made a few virtual resources, like this 3D walkthrough of the palace rooms, available to those who would like to visit the palace from the safety of their own living rooms.
There are also brief video clips giving the history behind some of the portraits adorning the walls, like the one I photographed above of Queen Hakaleleponi , wife of Kamehameha III.
And this video of schoolchildren dancing on the palace grounds just makes me smile. Stay home, be well and soon we can celebrate life’s happy moments together again
