Lake Placid Olympic Site at Whiteface Mountain»
Lake Placid, New York hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980. While staying in the area, we visited as many of the Olympic sites as possible. Whiteface hosted the alpine ski events during the 1980 Olympics and is now a US Olympic training site.
During the summer, you can take a gondola ride to the top of Little Whiteface. We took the peaceful 15-minute ride up to enjoy stunning views of the Adirondacks. Once at the top, at 3678 feet, we were able to explore the trails and watch the mountain bikers before returning to the base
