Welcome back to National Parks and other public lands with T!
The Cliff Walk➤
The Cliff Walk, which passes by Ochre Court, is a National Recreation Trail which runs along the shoreline in Newport, Rhode Island. Ocean views abound throughout the 3.5 mile walk. The trail passes by many of Newport’s famous gilded age mansions.

Hurricane Sandy washed away The Cliff Walk in 2012. After $5 million in restorations, Newport reopened the trail in 2014. There are still some unpaved, rough sections.

Ochre Court➤
Ochre Court is the second largest mansion in Newport at sixty-thousand square feet. New York real estate mogul, Ogden Goelet spent his summers in the French Chateau-style home during the late 1800s.

Goelet’s heirs donated Ochre Court to the Catholic church in 1937. The Sisters of Mercy converted the mansion into Salve Regina College in 1947. Gradually, the college expanded into other mansions along Ochre Point.

Today, Ochre Court serves as the administrative building of Salve Regina University. The first floor is open to the public and hosts events. We saw a wedding reception in progress when we passed by.
