Welcome back to National Parks and other public lands with T!
Virtual Hike to St. Mary and Virginia Falls»
See below for a virtual hike to St. Mary and Virginia Falls courtesy of 1BrokeDad from You Tube. We actually picked the trail up from the Baring Falls Dock, having taken a boat ride across St. Mary Lake from Rising Sun. We took the ranger-led tour from the dock to Baring and St. Mary Falls. This was a great tour, but we missed out on continuing to Virginia Falls since we had to head back to the boat.
My Video Clip of Saint Mary Falls»
In my video clip below, you can see the difference in the water flow between when we there (in June, at the beginning of the melt) and when 1BrokeDad made his film (in August.) When we were there, the falls were roaring with lots of glacial turquoise water rushing to the Saint Mary River and on into the lake. The flow covered the entire ledge in June and was a much thinner fall in August.

NPS Video Overview of the Hike to St. Mary Falls»
See the brief NPS video below (You must click through to You Tube to see it as the park has disabled playback on third party websites) that shows the maps and the walk to St. Mary’s and Virginia Fall’s from the trail-head off Going to the Sun Road.
We had hoped to make a repeat visit to Glacier (a personal favorite) this summer but the Covid-19 virus has pretty much squashed that notion, at least so far. It’s a long, long drive from everywhere but so worth it!
Sorry to hear about your canceled plans. We too have missed out on our plans due to coronavirus 😔
So beautiful. I want to return and see this part of the park.
Thanks! Hope you return someday 😊
One good result of this pandemic, is how Nature is making a comeback in so many areas!
Yes💖
Oh jeez, didn’t think of that!
What a beautiful place. Great images. Vivienne
