Welcome back to National Parks and other public lands with T!
Overpeck County Park is 811 acres across the towns of Leonia, Palisades Park, Ridgefield Park and Teaneck along Overpeck Creek in northern New Jersey. The Ridgefield Park section was once a garbage dump that became a biohazard and was closed in 1975.
The county filled the area in with topsoil and plantings to restore the area and add to the park that had been created in the 1950s. The expanded park opened in 2010.
Location: 40 Fort Lee Rd, Leonia, NJ 07605
Designation: County Park
Date established/designated: 1954
Date of my visit: February 22, 2020
I was going t ask about fishing or crabbing opportunities but then I saw the biohazard garbage dump part and I think I’ll take a hard pass on that. 😀
Lol, not advisable 😂
